It's the day after Thanksgiving, and you know what that means.
This morning I went outside and got myself a stick. I then attempted to shake said stick at the piles of Tupperware in the fridge, but I found myself unable.
Now, there's an outside chance I could eat all of this myself, but that'd be juuuuust a tad wasteful. So I am hereby declaring the XSGY Thanksgiving Leftovers Contest officially open. Whoever comes up with the most creative use for the big honking heap o' food currently dominating the kitchen gets . . . a prize to be determined later because I'm just making this up as I go. But it'll be something nifty. Creative suggestions for the prizes may also earn prizes.

Jamie, exactly what does "XSGY" stand for?
And by creative, do you mean, 'creative and edible' or just creative? Because if anyone makes, say, green bean and whipped yam pancakes, there will be words.

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters? It's on the plaque on the front gate? Sheesh, no more tryptophan for you.
And now I want to try green bean and whipped yam pancakes. I'd eat those.

I had feared it was "Xavier's School Gastronomic Yearly" or something. One never knows.
Come down here and help me whip these yams then. Doug is being no help at all and keeps eating all the cranberries.

No, see, "Xavier's School Gastronomic Yearly" doesn't make sense. Unless it does in French, but that doesn't count. ;)
Is he singing "Whip It Good?" Because if not, he should be.

He was not, until just now.
Now, he is singing and using a whisk as a microphone. And still eating all the cranberries.

Eeeeexcellent. Except for the eating all the cranberries part. If he's still doing that when I get down there I'm taking away his whisk.

It is too bad that mashed potatoes are not used in potato pancakes, because that would be perfect. Instead, I think maybe whole wheat pancakes, because the regular kind would taste weird with vegetables in.
And yes, he is still eating all the cranberries.

I'm going to try mashed potato pancakes. Hrm.
And okay then, his whisk microphone privileges have just been revoked. Tsk tsk, the greed of today's youth.

I found a recipie for potato pancakes, but not mashed potato ones. It seems to be working with sweet potatoes though. At least, the raw batter tastes good.
Er. I mean, my... unbiased taste-testers who are not me tell me so.
Also now that I have thought of it, why are they sometimes yams and sometimes sweet potatoes? What is the reason for that?

You need more unbiased taste testers who are not you. Luckily, I am judging the contest!
What people in the US call yams aren't actually real yams, they're orange sweet potatoes. It's a whole brand name kind of thing, I think, whenever the orange ones started being sold they wanted to differentiate them from the other kind.

The small green taste-tester and small flesh-toned taste-tester have informed me that "The committee does not have enough of a sample size to properly judge."
Of course, they also tried to tell me that the pancakes needed more marshmellows. (There are none. I am not putting marshmellows in pancakes. No.) And then tried to convince me that -they- needed marshmellows. To dip in pancake batter.

Well, of course they would. You mean you didn't give them any? You're trying to keep the creativity prize all to yourself, aren't you? :)

Of course I gave them marshmellows. They are making an army of marshmellow men with toothpicks and the assorted sizes of marshmellows and cereal (for faces, I think.)

Is the fire extinguisher handy in case Jubilee tries to get creative?

Fire extinguisher's always ready, don't worry.

Mmm. Leftover turkey and cranberry sandwiches. The best part of Thanksgiving.

See, I don't generally go with the cranberries. Turkey sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes, though? That's good stuff.

See, I'm lacking in creativity, because all I can come up with at the moment is eating it...

You can come down and help me judge then. I deputize you. :)

Cranberry sauce on pancakes, and shredded turkey mixed in with scrambled eggs. Best breakfast in recent memory.

I'd give you some ideas but this is vastly more entertaining.

All right, I'll offer $20 to anyone that can come up with the most disgusting leftovers ice cream flavor. As long as they eat it after I make it. ;)

Stuffing with Green Bean Swirl. And I'll eat it when I get home from Jay's folks house. Or Green Bean with Stuffing Ripple, I guess. Either way.
