Is that half a deer I see in the big freezer there? Because it sure looks like half a deer, or at least enough meat to be half a deer.
If it is, then hey, Rahne, way to go. :)
And can I snag some for dinner tonight? Never had venison before.

I caught him Saturday morning before things went mad again. (Madder.) Nathan dressed it and brought it in, and Mr. Marko made room to hang it for a couple of days... and you know, there was a time when I would not have thought raw liver was a comforting and invigorating breakfast.
Have some. Have lots. There's more running around out there yet than there is winter forage, so I'm told.

You know, I bet venison makes good sandwiches. But I bet Lorna would have a fit if I was slicing meat with the claws.
.. I don't even know if I -can- slice meat with my claws. Now I'm really curious...

It's okay if it's powers experimentation. That's a good half of what we're here for anyway, powers experimentation. Also, she's not in the kitchen right now.

I noticed that. Did you notice me noticing that with the french toast - and- the sliced venison sandwich?
not so good on the slicing meat. Good for tearing though. I shred well, I guess.
Lettuce of the world beware.

I did, in fact, notice you noticing that. I don't know if you noticed.
Did you get all the syrup off your claws after? Because that could get messy.
And yes, there is a great future for you in salad production.

Yeah, syrup all gone. Probably had too much of it, between the toast and learning that fingerfood is a problem now, but eh, I've got gym later, I can burn it off. I hope.
I should be hiding from Lorna now, right? Or else I have to take cooking next year and wear a stupid apron?

All sorts of ways to burn off energy around here. Not so much with the "trying to keep up with the little kids" this week, but . . . there's plenty to do.
Nah, we cleaned the kitchen up and all the plates and stuff are in the dishwasher, we should be fine. I think, though, if you ever do take cooking she'll probably remember that comment and have a special apron just for you. :)

I meant with the shredding.
If cooking weren't so dorky, I'd kinda want to see how fast I could go through ... DUDE.. dude, I should've made jack-o-lanterns! Dammit! That'd have been awesome. I bet I could get right through pumpkin outsides!

What's dorky about cooking? I learned to grill things at my father's knee, and he learned it from his father, and so on back to . . . y'know, I dunno if Great-Grandpa grilled anything. But cooking can be manly, is my point.
And baking actual cookies and things, well, that's just practical. If you wait for other people to do it you might run out.
Next year. Next year you are in charge of jack-o-lanterns, if you're sticking around that long. And I bet we could still get our hands on a pumpkin or some other kind of gourd if you wanted to try before then. We've got about eighty gazillion rich people and a fancy plane around here, somebody can find a pumpkin.

Grilling's not cooking. Its -grilling-. 's different.
I think I'm kinda stuck here until I graduate at least, and after the stupid tests, that's at least four years.
If I pass algebra. Bleh. Stupid numbers.
Maybe I should practice first with the pumpkins.

Not that different.
Well, except maybe when the guy Lorna learned from does it, but he's apparently French and screams a lot, and from what she says I'm pretty sure he terrifies the food into being done, instead of actually cooking it. (Which is nothing against the French, mind you. Wonderful people the French. Never ever ambush somebody with disturbingly animated drawings for impugning their nation. Which I wasn't.)
Algebra is actually . . . it can be tricky, but there's a couple things you can do to make it easier. One of them is "have a hot math genius girlfriend," but I can't help you there. :) Wanna maybe go over some stuff later?
And hey, at least it's just algebra, not the spawn-of-hell two-column geometry proofs. Or calculus, which I'm almost convinced is some sort of weird magic where you point a finger and poof, the scary complicated formula solves itself.

Let me know if you need a tutor other than Jamie. There's half a dozen of the math-genius types about and we pretty much all do tutoring work if people need it.

If you wash your hands (and claws) thoroughly first, and probably use a knife to get a piece off and then cut that up for yourself so what's left is neater, I can't see why she'd mind.

Nifty. Thanks. :) Sounds absolutely delicious, except for the part about the raw liver (although, y'know, cook it right . . .)

Have lots
So, can I claim a haunch as Dragon Food? He's been sniffing at it all weekend when I went to feed him, but I didn't know who's it was.
Go ahead.

At the rate Lockheed eats, I'll have an excuse to go chase another one as soon as Medlab slows down. ;) Tell me if he likes it?
Thanks

I'd say he decidedly likes it. Mind, he likes anything that's made of meat, but he definitely seems fond of the deer. And I think he's slowing down on how much he eats, sort of. A bit, anyways. But yeah, you'll definitely get your excuse, probably sooner than later.
Hey, once he figures out flying, would you be willing to let him go along hunting with you? I think it would make him happy.
Oh, my...

I'd not even thought of that. How to hunt with a dragon.... I'll have to do some thinking ahead of time about how we should go about not getting in each other's way, of course, but that could be a lot of fun.
There's a... well, a definite sense of accomplishment, if that doesn't sound too daft, doing it myself, but it doesn't quite feel right. Not for more than a rabbit.

I wouldn't really think he'd be big enough for much more than rabbits, really. Well, that and maybe herding type strategies. -shrug-
I know jack-all about hunting, but I do think he'd like it.

I was thinking of the herding possibilities. Sorry if I got ahead of things.
I can also give tips on rabbits. Um... I think.

Only a head of things in that he's still not quite mastered flying. For that matter, he hasn't tried in a while - think I need to work on that. Maybe. Just sort of making things up as I go along in the whole 'raising a dragon' field.

Actually... that's an idea. Cause, we actually do have courses on flying here, don't we. -g-
