Coolest. Plane ride. Ever.

Man, I thought they'd be sending a van, or something, or a taxi to the airport. Apparently mutants travel in style. We were all looking out at the driveway when this huge black jet just thumps down in the backyard. So I couldn't wait to see what the actual school was like.
Getting ahead of myself, though. Hi! I'm Jamie Madrox. I'm the new guys you might've seen moving in this evening, the ones you probably thought were quadruplets or something? All me. That's what I do, see, I get hit and turn into twins. Makes doing chores and moving into gigantic mansions a lot easier, but it's awkward when it happens in public.
Also gives me a great alibi, as you'll probably find out eventually. ;)
So where was I? Right. The inside of the plane was even cooler than the outside, once I'd said bye to Mom and Dad and they'd talked to Mr. Summers some. And then it was all my stuff in the plane--one trip, between four of me and one of Piotr--and we took off. I've never been in a plane that goes that fast.
Mr. Summers seems like a pretty nice guy--my parents liked him, anyway--but he didn't say much on the plane, mostly questions about my powers and talking about a couple of the classes. Looks like he could use somebody to help him lighten up, once he's had some time to digest whatever it is he's got on his plate right now.
And Piotr's a good guy. Pitched in with the bags without even needing to be asked. Man, this school's got mutant farmboys from all over. :) He's freaking huge, which was kinda scary to start, but you couldn't ask for a nicer guy even if I think some of my jokes went by a bit fast for him. Totally my fault forgetting he's still getting used to English. Sorry, man. Kinda neat comparing farm life in Russia and Kansas, though, and he said he'd give me a tour tomorrow, introduce me to people. Apparently he's got a little sister--well, you all know that already, I guess, but it'll be neat to meet her.
But when I got on the plane, it turned out there was a third guy along. Warren Worthington. Rich brat couldn't be bothered to come out and meet my parents, or help carry stuff . . . you know, I knew a couple of guys kinda like him in junior high, before my parents started homeschooling me so I wouldn't dupe all over gym class. They were all designer clothes and flash and superior attitudes too. I just hope Mister Worthington has a sense of humor, that's all I have to say.
Enough about him, though. I haven't met too many other people yet because we got here kinda late, but I'm looking forward to meeting everybody. Been three years since I had anybody to talk to regularly except my parents and myself, so I'm gonna meet up with Piotr and get the tour tomorrow, and probably have some dupes explore some of the niftier bits and stick around to talk to people. Should be fun!

Hi, Jamie(s). I'm Storm. Or Ororo. Or Ms. Munroe. Not particularly big on formality around here.
Nice to have not-actually-met-you-yet.
I just hope Mister Worthington has a sense of humor, that's all I have to say.
Be careful what you wish for.
Feel free to send a -- dupe, is the term you use? -- to my World History class, if you feel like it. 9AM, in the library, just ask if you get lost.

Yeah, I know how that goes. I used to wish I had some help with my chores. :)

Cool. I'm there. (Literally, by now.) And you're a lot more interesting than the guy I had for history in seventh grade.
Not that this is hard. "Not reading straight from the textbook" would have done it. Hope you don't mind the note-taking, it helps me pay attention.

Heya! I'm Kitty, and welcome to the Mansion. :)
Glad to hear you had a good trip, and you're right, Piotr's a sweetie.
Also gives me a great alibi, as you'll probably find out eventually. ;)
I love you already!

Thanks for the welcome. :) Geez, this place is huge. And I keep thinking I'm going to touch the wrong thing and get nabbed by museum security.
I love you already!
Always nice to hear from a cute girl. You'll have to give me the lowdown on the fun people to prank. ;)

Don't worry, there's no museum security, and trust me, you'll know if you run into some place the students are not allowed to be. Accidentally phased into one of the off limits areas and my being there triggered a lock down in the hallway. Less than fun, let me tell you.
You'll have to give me the lowdown on the fun people to prank. ;)
Certainly... for a price. *evil grin*

Phased?
And I'm good at things involving beef and grills, if food is acceptable currency. Revenge for having to shovel up after them all my life. :)

I'll show you about phasing sometime, if you want. It's my mutation.
And food is definitely acceptable currency. :D Ooh! Some weekend we should make there be a BBQ! How're you with corn on the cob?
x_crowdofone
May 19 2003, 07:29:49
Cool. Definitely. Everybody here's got nifty powers, it's a blast.
And absolutely I can make corn on the cob. Boiled or grilled. And if I'm cooking, somebody else gets to husk it all. :)
Re:

May 19 2003, 07:37:24
Grilled, absolutely!
And I'm sure I can con///convince one of the kids to husk. o_-
oooh. And I can make chocolate chip cookies and I bet we can get watermelon. Well, it might be too early in the season for watermelon, but we can try.

Mmm, cookies and watermelon. I like the way you think.

Welcome to school, Jamie. As Ororo said, we're not much on formality here, and you're welcome to call me either Dr. Bartlet or Madelyn as you want. It's a little late in the term, but if you're interested, you're always welcome to come sit in on my Intro to Field Medicine and biology classes.
Piotr's a great guy, and more than worth his weight in Samsonite luggage.
x_crowdofone
May 19 2003, 05:59:14
Thanks, Doc. I think I will. Mom's a vet, so I've already had some bio, but it's a fun subject. Intro to Field Medicine--is that like first aid? I had to dump Scouts before I got much of that, so cool.
And if you want to try and figure out my dupes, you can--after giving a horse shots and getting elbow-deep in birthing cow, there's not a whole lot about a doctor's office that scares me. :)
Piotr's a great guy, and more than worth his weight in Samsonite luggage.
And a good thing, too. That'd be one heck of a lot of luggage. :)
x_archangel
May 19 2003, 08:32:53
Funny, I believe I have that much luggage. And yes, before you ask, James, I do carry it all in myself.

May 19 2003, 08:43:41
Yeah, I'll just bet you do, Feathers.

It's good to see you're fitting in so well already.

You could start buying him up, I guess, one trunk's worth at a time. It would take an awful lot of luggage, though, and I don't think Pitor's much of a couture boy, so you couldn't speed the process by throwing in some YSL bags.
On the other hand, Piotr might like the Slimline aluminum attache cases.

Yeah, this is my favorite song, it . . .
*blink*
*blink* *blink*
. . . You're Allison Blaire. Oh, my God, you're an actual real person and you're living in the same place I do.
I have all your CDs! I've seen you in concert! About two years ago in KC, I had to bug my parents in four-part chorus for a week until they gave in and bought the tickets but it was totally worth it.
And then you told everybody you were a mutant, and I couldn't believe it, because I was a mutant, and--oh, man, that was so brave, what you did, you're completely my hero. I was five minutes from storming into my old school and duping right in the middle of the lunchroom and saying "Come on, take your best shot," only I didn't have a driver's license yet and that slowed me down long enough for my parents to talk me down. But I would've.
I can't believe you're here.
. . . And here I've just been chattering like some idiot fan like I'm sure you get all the time. Geez, I'm sorry, I'll just . . . crawl off and die of shame, or something.

*grin*
Y'know - I remember that concert. I think it's one of the places I went where the stars were easiest to see. And the audience was just amazing. Man... I was just starting out then.
...
I'm glad your parents managed to sit down on you long enough to keep you from doing that. And thank you.
No worries kiddo. I'm not a rock star anymore - and like you said... I'm an actual real person and I'm living in the same place you do. ;)
And I'm a vain little thing. This is nice, really.
*wry grin*
x_crowdofone
May 19 2003, 15:02:38
Well, you're still a rock star to me. :) But I'll try not to be so much of a geek about it anymore. I think I got most of that out of my system in one shot.
Hey, if you liked the stars in KC you ought to see 'em at my family's farm. It's miles away from the nearest town, and it's all flat. Sometimes I like to just go out and lie in the middle of a field and stare.
Well, except for the time I picked the wrong field and ran into a cow because I was staring at the sky. :)
I am really glad to meet you even aside from the whole huge embarrassing fanboy moment. :)
x_dazzler
May 19 2003, 15:53:33
*chuckle*
This new students showing up and liking my music thing is going to do horrible things to my ego. ;)
*pause*
You ran into a cow?
And I'm glad to meet you too. How are you settling in so far?
x_crowdofone
May 19 2003, 16:38:57
It was dark and I wasn't looking where I was going! :)
I'm settling in all right. Went riding with Piotr and Sam, and Terry had a foreign-flick-and-popcorn-fight deal this afternoon, and Kitty turned an offhand comment of mine into a school-wide barbecue probably next weekend--sheesh, does she ever take charge. :) Looks like Sam, Piotr and I are gonna be handling most of the cooking, too, so I hope you'll bring your appetite.
x_dazzler
May 19 2003, 17:01:18
Note to self : always look where you're going when in the dark, especially when cows are around. ;)
Oh man - Sam's already subverting people to that riding thing? Gah. Must make note to self to stay away from the stable for a while.
Barbecue sounds wonderful, actually... I'll try to do the cooks justice! ;)

Rule to live by, I'm telling you. :)
And you should come riding sometime. It's a lot of fun, and Sam's a good teacher.

Hello back. :) Yeah, I'm sure you'll run into me sooner or later, it's not that huge a place. At the barbecue this weekend, if not before.

Very cool.
Hey, has anyone ever told you you look kinda like Grover? I mean, if Grover got a shave and grew a tail, I guess.
See you at the barbecue. :)
