Powers didn't mysteriously come back overnight. I wasn't really expecting 'em to, but wouldn't it be nice?
Never mind that. I'm doing a sort of promotional thing for a friend of mine--Paige, Jono, maybe you guys remember him from the shelter, Adam Roth, the cool old chess-playing guy? I'm supposed to offer you guys these three boxes of honey cakes he sent me and tell you to go buy more at the Roth Family Bakery in Manhattan. They're really good, they've got almonds and raisins and coffee in them. Free to all comers in the kitchen as of two minutes ago. Bring your own napkins, they're sticky.
Also, Mr. Wisdom, if you see this, do you still want those Third Species leaflets? A friend of mine sent me some that he had.

Ooh, those sound really good. I offer up my services to chaffeur anyone down to the bakery if you guys ever want to go.
Of course, I came here in a cab so there is that matter of not having a car...Oh well. The offer still stands. :D

The Professor has more cars than some actual car dealerships, I think, so that probably won't be a problem. :)
You're Tabitha, right? I don't think we've actually met in person yet--sorry about that, I'm usually a lot more social than this. Rough couple of weeks. I'm Jamie.

Wow, you guys got a sweet deal going on here.
Yep, I'm Tabitha. Nice to meet ya. :) Yeah, I noticed everyone/thing seemed to be a bit mellow around here. Guess I picked a great time to show up, huh? ;)

Heh. Yeah. I grew up on a farm in Kansas, so imagine how long I walked around in a state of constant wow when I first got here.
And hey, at least you didn't show up in the middle of the hurricane, right? :)

Ahh, a country boy. Yeah, I was safe during the hurricane but actually, my friends and I did get caught in a tornado on our way through Kansas about a year ago. Everything was fine but we were a little disappointed when we couldn't find any munchkins. Although some guy at a convenience store did try to convince us he was a wizard but we decided not to go there. ;)

Think I remember that storm--went east of us, luckily. We've actually been pretty lucky in general with tornadoes, I can only remember one time one came close enough we had to go to the storm cellar, and it didn't actually hit us. No such luck with Isabel--but then, they don't grow tornadoes the size of Montana where I'm from. ;)
And yeah, yeah, I think I've heard all the Oz jokes there are. :) My buddy Guido calls Kansas "The State Judy Garland Built," and my mom has pictures of my parents and I on Halloween when I was five dressed up as the Wizard, the Wicked Witch, and a munchkin.
Where are you from?

Heh. Your friend Guido's about right. I've got a friend who swears North Dakota doesn't exist because you never meet anyone from there and nothing big has ever happened there. :)
I'm a Chicago-baby, born and raised but I haven't been there in awhile. Took a few years off to see the world. And by world I mean North America. Not rich enough to get off this continent hehe.

Oh, cool. Kitty's from Chicago too.
Y'know, there's a pretty good chance you can fix the whole off-the-continent problem--dunno if you've met Dr. MacTaggart yet, if you get up early enough to hear Godzilla with a Scots accent, that's her before her coffee--anyway, she has a research station in this great old castle in Scotland. Bunch of us went out there to help her pack up some stuff the week before the hurricane, and she's been talking about having a vacationey trip back over there in a couple months.

Does she know you call her Godzilla? ;)
But Scotland sounds immensely intriguing--crossing the foggy moors, wearing a kilt, buying a bagpipe and pretending I know how to play it. ;)

She does now. ;) And anyway, that's just until she gets to the coffee maker.
Scotland's really beautiful, I can't wait to go back.

*laughs* Let's just hope she sees this *after* she gets her coffee.

That's the beauty of it. I'm recovering from psychological trauma. She can't get too mad at me, it might set me off again. ;)
