Doc MacTaggart is a genius. This we knew. It isn't the wacky bit.

The wacky bit is, the genius thing she did tonight was figure out how my powers work. Kitty, Forge, you'll both be very happy to know I'm not creating matter out of nothing. I am, in fact, bringing ectoplasm off the astral plane (or somewhere else there's ectoplasm) and organizing it into perfect copies of myself down to the atomic level. Which is pretty clever of me considering I have no idea how I do it.

Oh, yeah, and apparently at some point my regular-matter body got replaced by an ectoplasm one. Doug, quiet down, you can make all the jokes you want in the morning and if you try to trap me I'm gonna cross streams on your sorry butt.

So, yeah. I'm no longer unexplainable by modern science. That's kinda cool.

Well, that's a pretty good trick. I mean, I have no clue what you meant by all that ectoplasm, astral plane stuff (I leave the astral plane to talentless magicians who don't have anything else to do with their sad, dateless lives), but it sounds very impressive. Congratulations.

Hmm. Good thing it comes shaped like you, then, the last thing we need is goo running around doing your homework or whatever.

Ghostbusters? Is that the one with the ugly jumpsuits? I think I've seen about five minutes in the middle of it.

I'm quite happy with it coming shaped like me too, as it happens. Although now I'm sorta wondering if I could get it to come shaped like me but with different clothes, or something.

One of my several favourite movies of all time. If you're going to show it to Illyana, mind if I tag along? I promise not to speak along with the stars even...although, the "Yes, it's true, this man has no dick." will be quite a challange not to speak along with. Favourite line from a movie, ever!

I was not really ... paying attention when Dr. MacTaggart explained it the first time. But it sounds familiar and she mentioned that my images were not 'real' and from the astral something..

I suppose that makes sense - Newton never considered multiphasic dimensions when he wrote his Principia, it seems. From all the information I can find on 'ectoplasm', it's just neutral matter with a different quantum frequency and weird harmonics with psionic wavelengths. Most every mutant power that makes something out of thin air is theorized to be assisted by ectoplasmic mass generation. Granted, that doesn't apply to our quantamorphs, but that's getting into theoretical sub-sub-atomic physics, and Pym gives me a headache.
