Spell all broken? Yes? Everybody back in their right minds? Good. Time for a little vocab quiz. There's just one question.
What word fits the definition "force someone to perform sexually against their will?"
Well, I guess there's another question.
What the hell were you thinking, you twisted bitch?

Um. What? I know I'm not especially good at the social, reading people thing but, what?
You had better not be talking about Kitty or I will come over there and rearrange your face, chickpea. Even though I adore you very, very much. Dammit.Re:

Can you really see Jamie talking about Kitty that way even if she DID deserve it, and whom does "spell" suggest to you?Re:

What? Kitty? No. Christ, never.

I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. God, I shouldn't have even thought it, but she came in yesterday and...
See, this is why I'm not a social person. I suck. Just... ignore me in the future, okay?

No, that's okay, and damn, does that first sentence sound familiar, I said it about a million times last night. Yeah, I tracked her down after . . . everything . . . and we're okay. Or on the way there. Thank God.
I can see how you thought--argh. Sorry. I think I'll just make an "I'm an idiot" sign to wear around my neck, it'll save time.

Well, it'll save me wondering what to do with the other half of the piece of cardboard and the rest of the string, anyway. :)

Woah. Woah woah woah, back the fuck off.
Don't attack her like that unless you're willing to publicly ream the hell out of your roommate as well. You know, for using it, or not getting rid of it or whatever we're supposed to believe happened. If she deserves this, so does he.
Re:

If he did it on purpose, he certainly does. Considering he says he didn't, Manuel says he's the one who made the effort to stop it, and this seems to fit somebody's sense of humour who tried turning somebody into a frog for a joke she didn't like much better than it fits Doug's, I don't know.
Re:

February 17 2004, 17:35:55 UTC
That makes sense up until the point that I hear that she got hit by it too. Makes it sort of difficult to point and laugh when you're one of them.
Re:

February 17 2004, 18:54:54 UTC
Well, she didn't seem to think the frog business was funny afterward. She's flirted with Doug before, though, so I don't know if 'twould really bother her to take something that would make her want to do it more, if it was her idea. If she wasn't the one who -- who spread it around (and she did undo it, so I suppose you could say that argument works as well about her as Doug for that bit)... well, she still made it, but I want to know who did use it.
Re:

She made it. It was a bad fucking idea. Yes. But there's a difference between making the potion and leaving it to someone else's discretion, and making it and putting it in everybody's goddamned morning cereal. Let's stick to the things she did do, and try not to forget that there are others involved (whether they meant to do any harm or not).

I'll stick to what she did do, aye. That's quite enough.

Hey, now wait. Far as I can tell, all Amanda did was hand the potion to Doug and let him make his own choice about what to do with it. Whatever happened after that to cause all this, I don't know. But you're talking like she dumped it everybody's food, or in the water tank, or something. And I don't believe she'd do anything like that. 'Cause if she had, she'd have made damn sure she wasn't affected, no?
Re:

Yeah, that was almost funny--she's not even competent about warping people's minds. Because let's be clear here, that's exactly what she meant to do.
Re:

February 17 2004, 21:24:02 UTC
True enough. But again, the final choice of whether to do it or not didn't lie with her, as far as any of us knows. She handed it to Doug - and I'm not saying I think Doug wanted this to happen, not for a minute. But someone took that potion and used it.
Re:

February 17 2004, 21:32:55 UTC
Cool. I'll just go get a loaded gun, take off the safety, and hand it to someone who's never seen one, then. Final choice about whether or not it gets used doesn't lie with me, after all.
Whoever it was that used it--if someone even did, and it's not that Amanda just didn't put the cap on tightly enough and it works on fumes, or something--she still made the thing in the first place.

Jamie?
You aren't helping. Can you just .. go cool off for a bit?
I know you are upset and angry and scared, because I am upset and angry and scared too. Because everyone is upset and angry and scared.
That sounded too much like Manuel. You know what I mean, I hope.
Mr. Wisdom said Amanda is being punished. Everything else can wait. It can.

I can stop arguing about it in here, yeah.
But I refuse to not be angry about this. Whatever else happened and whoever else is to blame, Amanda's still the one who woke up one morning and thought "Hmm, Doug's incapable of getting a date on his own, and I have no problem with treating people like playthings." And she deserves to have people mad at her for both parts.
And okay, maybe she didn't literally think that. Maybe she didn't think at all. But that would be worse, because it means she can do stuff like this just by being careless. And if that's the case, then she needs to hear it from as many people as possible so she gets the message.
But, okay, I get that I'm the minority opinion, so I'm done here.

I never said not to be angry. Be angry.
Just ... can we all just stop worrying this into the ground over and over and over in circles?

February 17 2004, 22:59:20 UTC
Aye, as soon as Sarah and Angelo get it through their heads that Amanda did something to be blamed for, and she's the one we know that about.
You said she's being punished. Is it dishes again, and if so, is that really a good idea?
Re: ...

Everyone: Calm. Down. Now.
There's tea and cake. Go drink it, and eat it, respectively.
Neither Sarah nor Angelo are saying that Amanda is completely innocent here, and the fact that she's being punished - appropriately, since I believe Pete handled that and I trust him to handle this with all the severity and seriousness it is due - should be enough to make this bitchfest stop.
So. We can all continue fuming here, making it worse, or we could do something novel and concentrate on fixing things. Scary thought, I know.

Thank you, Mr. Shaw, but I don't think I care to eat or drink anything around here right now.
The part of "fixing things" that would involve finding out who used the potion Amanda made and where else they might have put it -- or something else -- isn't done yet, after all, and as I'm not sure how to go about that one, I think I'll be outside.

I am nearly certain it will not be dishes.
Sarah and Angelo aside, can we just stop? Its driving Manuel mad, and it isn't helping any of the rset of us one bit.

I am singling no-one out here, but let me spell this out for all of you:
Amanda did something stupid and wrong is being punished. Arguing about how stupid or wrong she was is pointless, but I will say that for now, I am content that she realises the scope of her error.
As for her punishment: For the moment, I'm declining to say more here, as the final details have to worked out with parties outside of this school, and parts of it are simply not my place to disclose to the student body. Amanda or the other parties may chose to tell you, but I will not. If this is a problem for some of you, then that's just tough. It's a rough old life.
Amanda has almost certainly lost many of your trust and respect, which is entirely fair enough. I'm sure she will be endeavouring to win them back over the coming weeks and months, and it may be that you decide that she never can. That's your right.
But I would strongly urge you all to consider that Amanda's error, while massive and frightening, was not the first error of scale to be made by students or faculty here, and frankly, the potential consequences were rather more slight than those made by others (I am assured by my sister that the effects would have worn off in a short time, anyway - not information you had, but I'm informing you now), to whom rather more courtesy was extended in the aftermath.
If you are angry and upset, I have already pointed out you have members of the faculty, or a professional counsellor you can talk to, or private journals, or a number of options beyond public vilification, which solves nothing for anyone.
I trust I'm not going to have to repeat myself.

Make it clear what you suggesting, homme, and move from there. If not, then shut up and stop your pissing on. Either you got a point or you wanking it all over the place, and Remy not interested in the spray.
